The first of three Pepsi/Club Car Tournament Series events for the Indiana Section PGA concluded today at Rock Hollow GC in Peru. Near perfect conditions contributed to a 4-under round for Tim Frazier, Head Professional at Sycamore Hills GC in Fort Wayne.
Claiming to have “Missed them straight,” Frazier carded five birdies and only one bogey for his round of 68 on the 6,741-yard Rock Hollow. “I hit a lot of greens, knocked a few close and got some really good looks,” stated Frazier. “And, I got to see a hole-in-one,” referring to the ace carded on the par-3, eighth hole by Mike Abbott of The Bridgewater Club in Carmel.
A 2-under tie was shared between Alan Schulte of the Hawthorns and Bill Schumaker of Crooked Lake. Schulte, beginning on hole #1 scored three bogeys on the front nine, but came in strong with 5 birdies, four of them on the last five holes to post rounds of 39-31. Schumaker’s 70 not only earned him second place overall, but first place for the Senior division.
Jim Ousley, Tippecanoe Country Club, tied for 4th with Brad Fellers of Swan Lake Golf Resort.
Super Senior (aged 60+) winners Jim Ferriell, Crooked Stick GC, and Bob Placido, Augusta Hills, both carded 81s.
